A very simple dance...

March 1, 2009

Talia is in her new Birthday dress (a little early) made by Lita(my mom) at my parents house.  Talia LOVES these Sesame Street videos that my mom picked up at DI for something like 25 cents a piece.  I think that we have definitely made the purchase worth while.  You gotta love vintage Sesame Street and if you can see the pants on the guy on the TV...Classic!

What's in the box???

February 27, 2008  Who is in the box???
TALIA!  She thought it was great fun to hide in one of my moms fabric boxes.  She just happened to choose the one with PINK fabric and tucked herself in with Milo's blanket!  I love that kid!

Peek-A-Boo

(February 20, 2009)  Talia loves to make Milo laugh!

Papa's Boots

February 26, 2009
While I was with my parents Talia had a fascination with my dads boots.  She found them and put them on all by herself on a few occasions.  Well Talia those are some pretty big shoes to fill!

Grandmas Funeral

(Talia watching, Aunt Quinta, My mom Janice, and Aunt LuDeen playing the piano)

My mom and her sisters are practicing a song for my Grandma's funeral.  It was a lovely funeral and all but one grandchild was able to come.

My Grandma

(February 19, 2009)  At the age of 101 my grandma, Ruth Nielson passed away.  (she also had 101 great grandchildren...pretty cool!)  I went to LaVerkin, UT for the funeral and stayed with my parents at my Grandma's house.  Here are a few pictures that remind me of my Grandma...
Her house...I never knew her to live anywhere else.  I remember visiting every summer.  As kids we loved to sleep on a flat part of the roof and watch the fireworks on 4th of July.
The house on the hill had a wonderful view of the small city
Grandma loved to work in the garden and always had cute decorations in her yard.
Grandma was patriotic and very opinionated and it showed in small ways like her signed picture of Ronald Regan.
Other things I remember are the ceramics that she made, her music box collection, and her love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Valentines at the Hickman House

February 14, 2009
For Valentines I made heart shaped pizza and everyone enjoyed it.  Although it tasted good to everyone, Gavin wasn't too impressed when I excitedly showed him the pizza I so carefully shaped.  I said "Look it's a heart!"  and Gavin said "sort of."  While Preston was cutting the pizza he had to make heart related jokes like "which ventricle would you like?"  He is such a silly.  Even Milo got a little taste...and yes that is a girl bib on him, I am just too cheap to buy him a boy bib.

My Valentine!
The boys getting in a little valentine male bonding the Hickman way...WRESTLING!

Crazy things at our house...

February 12, 2009
Talia has a new skill...putting socks on.   She is so proud when she gets them on.  The only problem is that she gets so frustrated when she can't put her Talia sized socks on.  She Loves to be like her wonderful daddy!  And (above)  How the heck???  I could never fall asleep like that!  Talia climbs in and out of the jumper all by herself...that is unless she gets stuck.

Talia and Milo

(February 9, 2009)  I have been trying to get some video of Talia and Milo playing so I have snippets here and there because Talia always stops what she is doing when I get the camera out.  Despite that this video is cute because Talia was tickling Milo and, like his dad, Milo sticks his tongue out when he is concentrating.  Drives me crazy when Preston does it but I think Milo is adorable.  Go figure.

Milo is 6 months

(February 7, 2009)  My little man is 6 months old and cuter than ever!  He is an extremely proficient crawler because he has been crawling for a month now.  He smiles and laughs all the time and Talia and Milo love to play.  Now that Milo moves pretty fast Talia gets such an excited thrill when he chases her.  Sometimes they just giggle and giggle together.  I am sure the fighting will come but right now I love the innocence in there sibling relationship.

Talia loves her Daddy!

February 7, 2009 ~ Talia brought this tie to her Daddy and asked very nicely "wear? peas!" She stood there so proud and still while Preston tied it on her and she wore it most of the morning. Talia was so proud to be just like her Daddy! I did convince her to take it off when she decided to go potty. That could have been a disaster!

Preiview of coming attractions...

On Friday I had my sister in law Ann with me. She is such a funny girl! She came with me to a friends house to do some valentines pictures and she needed a job so I let her take some pictures with my camera. I love the chubby legs she got on Milo. Here are a few of her best shots. It was fun to see what kind of pictures she got.

Gavin's Superman Party ~ THE COSTUMES

I made all the kids capes and shirts so they could help the birthday boy...I mean Superman find his presents. Super Gavin!
The Girls...

all the kids

Talia was saying "Super!" over and over with her hands in the air.

They also spent a good amount of time jumping or "flying" off of the fireplace.

Gavin's Superman Party ~ THE CAKE

After a few mishaps in decorating the cake it actually turned out pretty well. I was trying to do red frosting and didn't have enough food coloring so I ended up with bright PINK frosting. I did the first layer in pink and Gavin happened to walk in when I had finished the pink layer. He looked at the cake but didn't say a word. Poor kid! Preston had been teasing him that we were doing a "My Little Pony" birthday for him. I think he was relieved to see a Superman cake!
