I made a pair of wool longies (diaper cover) out of a sweater that I found at the thrift store because I have been trying to find a better solution for a night time diaper. (I have been doing cloth diapers if you didn't know) I think they look absolutely adorable and they didn't leak. We will see...they still smell like moth balls when they get wet...I will have to fix that if I am going to really use wool at night. I was proud of myself because I sewed them without my mom's help. :) I had to sew them by hand because I don't have a sewing machine but I have always felt like I didn't have enough skill or desire to sew to deserve a sewing machine. Maybe I deserve my own sewing machine now?!?
Lorrin...what do you think about my bum sweater???

I think it's precious Shanda!
That is freaking awesome - I love it! Looks tricky to do, and I even have a sewing machine - way to go!
Oh Shanda! That is so cute. You are way too talented.
Holy cow, the bum sweater is so cute. Good job on the sewing.
the tassel hanging in the middle is CLASSIC
Wow Shanda! Where did you get such a great sweater! I guess being in Fla is a draw back as I can usually only find one very ugly wool sweater at the Salvation Army. It looks like you did it a little difficulty but it looks awesome! I usually add elastic to mine and make them about 2 sizes too big so that when I wash them they are okay to shrink. Make sure you lanolize them to make them actually absorb any extra urine and after the old lady smell is gone they shouldn't smell like moth balls. Look at the men's sweaters as you get more bang for your buck and I also got a wool floor length dress once! Oh, you can also dye the wool using Koolaid which is a blast and would be sooo fun with the leftovers of this sweater. Oh, also, check out Craig's list for a sewing machine, you could get one used for super cheap - maybe $25 or less. Keep up the good work!
I am super impressed, that tassel cracks me up!
Hey, I found your blog from others links. Your family is so cute. I can't believe you are doing cloth diapers. That is really admirable! Are you guys in CO Springs? we are up in Denver, and probably moving to Pueblo. Anyway, we have a blog too, but it is private, if you want to see it send me your email and I'll send you an invite jsaac4@yahoo.com
